Welcome to MIDWEEK with MIDTOWN: Episode 10!

We have a fun way for your family to enjoy Holiday dinner time around your dinner table this year!

Here is what you'll need to do:

Have everyone in your family find a picture that they have a great memory from. But here's the catch. Try to find one that is in a picture frame. It's easy to grab your phone and scroll through pictures. But somehow the nostalgia of a framed memory from one you walk past in the hall, on a desk, or anywhere else in your home carries a special meaning.

A picture in a frame had special care given to it. It was selected out of many to stand out in your home. It serves as a reminder of who you are as a family, and marks time spent together along the journey of life. When your friends and extended family visit your home they see those moments, and get a glimpse into the life you have created together.

Life goes by fast. This fun, simple activity as a family will help you slow down to soak it in a bit better. To remember. To laugh. To cry. To laugh so hard that you cry. And maybe if you laugh hard enough sharing stories, you can get someone to spit their milk out their nose. Oh my!

Enjoy your trip down memory lane. Walk through your home slowly as you pick out your picture and take in all of the moments in all of the frames. On the walls, down the halls, on the tables, bookcases, and everywhere else.

This holiday season, our hope for you and your family is that your home will be filled with laughter as you share stories with one another.

Thank you for choosing our family at Midtown Realty Company.

It's an honor to know you and your family, and call you all friends.

And don't worry...if we haven't met yet?

2018 is a great time to start a new relationship and meet new people!

From our family to yours,

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Welcome to a very special edition of MIDWEEK with MIDTOWN!

Our normal routine here in our blog is to talk about exciting new listings, home buying, home selling, and home decorating tips. Our hope is that you find your stop here each week full of the real estate answers you've been searching for.

Today we want to put a twist on the routine that is on our heart.

Our wish for you today:

List your home...

Join us in listing it among the many things we can be thankful for.

  • A roof over our heads means we are cared for and protected.
  • Running water, and a place to store the many food items that will feed our family and friends today, means we are nourished.
  • We can set the heat to the exact comfort we want.
  • We'll sit back with our feet up & relax after Turkey dinner and watch football in a cozy living room.
  • Whoever is making the meal has music playing in the background bringing all the sounds of the season to the home.
  • The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade entertains the kids and adults alike.
  • The end of the day will be a reminder that we all have so much to be thankful and grateful for.

Today...

Join us in listing your home as a reminder on your heart that we are all so very, very lucky to live in the communities that we do.

We'll be thinking of you today.

Why?

You are our friends.

As you go about your Thanksgiving holiday, may it be full of laughter and joy-filled memories.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

-From all of us at Midtown Realty Company!

Welcome back to our MIDWEEK with MIDTOWN, and welcome home to all of you who are new to our weekly blog post!

Last week we talked about 3 fun ways to decorate your home for the holidays. Specifically, we talked about decorating the inside of your home. This week, we'll stick with the decorating theme, but turn our attention to the outside of your home.

Have you ever driven by a home and thought that it looked so warm and inviting? We've all seen "those" houses, and lamented about how we'd love to do the same thing, if we only had the time to do it!

This week's episode will offer some cool exterior decorating tips that don't have to monopolize your time, or break the bank for it to become a reality.

3 cheerful, colorful, and creative ways to decorate the outside of your home for Thanksgiving.

  • Chalkboard Easel: You can use a small chalkboard easel that sits on a table by your front door, or a stand-alone one that nestles into a corner on your porch. These are fun because you can change the message, design, and colors as often as you like. Use them to welcome guests to your dinner party, or leave cute little messages to welcome the kiddos home from school. The key to success here? HAVE FUN!

  • Lightbulbs: There are more colors of lightbulbs than ever before out there to decorate with. Many of them have a special cause they raise awareness to by having that color illuminated on your porch. Use your friend google first, to be sure you agree with the message the color you are thinking of using stands for. If you do, you might be surprised the difference that different colors of light could bring to your home's appearance.

  • Throw Pillows: If you have furniture by the entrance to your home, on your porch, etc...throw pillows are a super cute way to add warmth, color, and unique design to your home's exterior. Find them on the clearance rack at a discount chain store, or if you are the super-crafty-type, grab some clearance fabric and make your own. Swap them out from time to time to keep it fresh. And it's always a good idea to think about bringing them indoors if it is going to be really rainy or windy out. They'll last longer, and not end up being lawn ornaments for your neighbor. :)

Cheerful. Colorful. Creative.

Chalkboard Easel. Lightbulbs. Throw Pillows.

Have fun coming up with fun sayings, creating inviting moods, and expressing your uniqueness and style this Thanksgiving holiday season!

If you give any of these ideas a whirl, we sure would LOVE to see them!

Join us on facebook HERE, and post pictures of your creativity.

Episode 3 of "Midweek With Midtown" is focused on a few ways that you can decorate your home for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

We know that HGTV, Better Homes & Gardens, and so many other outlets have AMAZING displays of holiday decor. We also know that the look they create can feel like you need an entire crew to pull it off for your home. We have 3 super easy ways you can bring a cute holiday display to life in your home all on your own. You might even find your family wants to jump in and create these ideas with you as a family night activity!

Enter clever.

Enter Midweek With Midtown: Episode 3.

Simple. Warm. Inviting.

Here are 3 ways you can make your home become just that for Thanksgiving.

  • PUMPKINS: Just because Halloween is over doesn't mean that pumpkins are out of style, or by the curb. In fact, many places have them deeply discounted, and that means you cash in for your Turkey Day celebration. Gourds and small pumpkins make for inviting centerpieces as you prepare to gather for your family's meal.
  • APPLES & GREENERY: Another centerpiece favorite, or even mantle and table runner display, is the use of apples and finely trimmed greenery. Space them out to create the cozy surroundings you are after where your family and friends gather.
  • KRAFT PAPER: This is one of our favorites. Whether you use this as a table runner, table cloth, or individual placemats, it allows you the creativity to use markers, chalk, or crayons to personalize your family's holiday meal experience.

Simple. Warm. Inviting.

Pumpkins. Apples & Greenery. Craft Paper.

Enjoy your holiday preparation!

Slow down, and be present each step of the way...

That, after all, is the joy in the holiday.

Join us on facebook HERE, and post pictures of your creations. Our team at Midtown Realty Company would LOVE to see them!

How to grow closer as a family...

A family that spends time together, grows closer. One of the ways that brings people together is rolling up sleeves, and serving alongside one another.

Serve.

Go somewhere as a family, giving your time to an organization that needs it.

As the first week of January fades away already, before we know it New Years resolutions may get pushed to the back burner in the hurriedness of life. When we make the intentional effort to serve others, as a family, it begins to create a home that isn't just happy for the holidays...but all year long.

Talk about it at dinner tonight.

Get feedback from your kids about where they would like to serve.

Together...change the very fabric of your family's life, and in turn someone else's life that needs your hands and feet to be there for them in a tough season of theirs.

A simple way to strengthen a community.

We live in a fantastic community!

What makes that possible?

People.

That got us to thinking today...what might it look like to see life through someone else's viewpoint? Doing so can strengthen the fiber of each relationship that makes up this wonderful place we all call home. Sounds like fun to us!

Spend time doing one thing someone loves…together, that doesn’t interest you.

At the very least, you are investing in relationship. And who knows, the very thing you thought couldn't possibly interest you, might just end up capturing your attention too!

When our relationships are healthier, our community is stronger.

That...that is a simple way to strengthen a community.

Take the walk to understand someone else, and you'll find the treasure of relationship.

How to start the new year off strong.

A solid start to the new year for all of us would look something like this...

Solve a problem in our community. Do what we can, with what we, have where we are.

New Year's resolutions can feel overwhleming when they are too big, or too vague.

With 2017 here, let's see what we can do about that, by doing something right from the start. Everyone has different skills, talents, and resources. The one thing we all share in common is our individuality. Putting that to work in an area where someone needs our help, solves a problem. Think about a way this week that you can solve a problem with what you have, where you are.

We'll be doing the same.

It's a ton of fun to be part of this community. So many great people, with huge hearts.

Thanks for stopping by today. We hope you've had a GREAT start to 2017!

Let's go on a treasure hunt!

What better way to enter the new year, than going on a treasure hunt! What are we looking for? Something most of us have, and many others need. Clothes and toys.

Another great way to make it a happy home for the holidays is to do this...

Simplify your world.

Donate gently used clothes/toys & talk about why you are doing it as a family.

When our kids understand the many blessings we have, and get excited about bringing that same opportunity to others, we've created such a wonderful world for everyone!

With a little over 24 hours to go until we all ring in 2017, let's make 2016 end on a high note, and look for these items to donate. And if you can, do it anonymously. Why? It teaches our kids that leading the way isn't about notoriety, it's about being grateful for what we have through humility.

As another year comes to a close, remember to do this one thing for your family...

As 2016 comes to a close, it's always good to pause and think about what you are most thankful for. Even better than what we are most thankful for, is who. Even better than thinking it, is saying it.

So, today's idea is to do both.

Speak. Tell each other one thing about your family that means the most to you.

We were blessed at Midtown Realty to be loved, cared for, and led by a tremendous woman. Bonnie was a
Great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend. Her gentle smile and reassuring words were a gift to all she knew. Though her travels now are on streets of gold, her legacy guides us each day through.

And to honor her legacy, what better way than for all of us to tell our families one thing about them, that means the most to us.

That will go a long way to creating a happy home for the holidays.
